Winston R-6 among top AYP schools

The Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) report released by DESE showed that the Winston R-VI Elementary, High School and School District met all performance criteria in Math and Communication Arts testing areas, Graduation Rate and Attendance Rate. The Winston R-VI School District was one of only 116 out of 554 Missouri school districts, or 21%, that meet AYP in 2010 and only two of 782 out of 2,213 Missouri school buildings

4-H and FFA regional livestock contest set for Aug. 28

North Missouri 4-H and FFA youth have the opportunity to test their livestock knowledge at the NW 4-H and FFA Regional Livestock Contest. This event will be held in Chillicothe at the Litton Agri-Science Center on Aug. 28.

NCMC Instructor David Nowland and goat producer and Trans Ova employee Stanton Warren will be our featured judges. This is a competition, but youth will also have the opportunity to work on

2010 Softball: GHS girls look for first win at Albany

Gallatin’s Lady Bulldogs failed to get a win in their opening series of the 2010 season but they will try again on Saturday when they travel to Albany for tournament play beginning at 9 a.m.

Gallatin hosted Trenton and Milan on Monday and Tuesday and fell by nearly identical scores of 10-0 and 11-0, respectively.

Freshman Kaitlyn McNeely and sophomore Kylie Cameron recorded hits for the Lady Bulldogs against Trenton.

2010 Football: Tough schedule awaits Bulldogs, beginning Friday against North Platte

Starters include 6 sophs
A young, but confident group of Bulldogs takes to the field Friday night for the 2010 football opener. Last spring’s graduation took the bulk of Bulldog experience, though much the same thing happened following the 2008 season when 16 seniors departed.

Courtney Ray to play basketball at NCMC

North Central Missouri College Head Lady Pirates Basketball Coach Jenny Croy has announced the signing of student/athlete Courtney Ray from Gallatin.

"Courtney played last season at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa, where she was the starting point guard until she suffered a season-ending knee injury," said Coach Croy. "She was an outstanding player at Gallatin High School and I know she is going to step up big time for

Daviess County Courthouse News (8-25-2010)

County Commission

Notification was received from Missouri Transportation Department of the release of BRO funds in the amount of $470,095.55 for this fiscal year. This will allow construction on project BRO 31, bridge number 5650020 on Harbor Avenue in Grand River Township to proceed. The bridge was designed in 2008.

James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, reported that they will be working in Harrison Township on a low water crossing

Gallatin school approves site license agreement for $500 in rent

Gallatin R-5 School District has agreed to provide Sitemaster space to install a communications hub in an enclosed cabinet within the school and to place antennas on the roof of the school. In exchange the company will pay the district $500 per month for rent for the space, along with providing the district with several wireless modems and or PC cards for no charge.
