Brammer, Jones tour capital in Washington

Drew Jones, Chillicothe, and Breanne Brammer, Gallatin, are pictured on their trip to Washington, D.C., courtesy of Farmers’ Electric Cooperative. Breanne wrote one of the top two essays in the cooperative’s 47th Annual Youth Tour to Washington essay contest. Drew was the other essay winner.

Ness elected regional representative of the Missouri State 4-H Council

Danielle Ness of Gallatin was elected as a regional representative of the Missouri State 4-H Council.

The elections took place during the 65th State 4-H Congress, June 2-4, at the University of Missouri. She was among 292 young people who attended the MU Extension event. Council members represent over 23,000 youth who participate in Missouri 4-H clubs. They play a major role in statewide 4-H event planning, advise on policy

Local delegates attend state congress

Skits, dances, motivational speakers and officer elections were a few highlights of the 65th annual State 4-H Congress, June 4-6, at the University of Missouri.

R. Leslie “Buckwheat” Gardner 1968 – 2010

R. Leslie "Buckwheat" Gardner, 42, Pattonsburg, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010 at a Cameron, Mo., hospital.

He was born March 15, 1968 in Bethany, Mo., the son of Ronald and Donna (Woodring) Gardner.

Melvin R. Shuler 1932-2010

Melvin R. Shuler, 77, Jamesport, died Monday, June 28, 2010.

He was born November 13, 1932 in Livingston County, MO, the son of Ola Gilbert and Maudie May (Brinser) Shuler.

On October 16, 1955, he married Dorothy Dickinson in Jamesport, MO. She preceded him in death on July 10, 2004.

Melvin was the retired owner with his wife, Dorothy, of Shuler Concrete Products of Jamesport, MO. He served in Korea

Lester Nelson 1944-2010

Memorial services for Lester Nelson, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 4, at the First Christian Church in Gallatin. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gallatin Active Ageing Resource Center, in care of the funeral home.

Jeffrey Hunt 1956-2010

Jeffrey Martin Hunt, 53, Altamont, died Saturday, June 26, 2010, at the Cameron Regional Medical Center. There are no scheduled services planned.
