Graveside service and burial with military rites for Robert Bain were held Tuesday, Feb. 23, at the Glaze Cemetery under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany. City gets updated cost estimate on new water plant

Doug Schulte with Snyder & Associates presented an updated cost estimate on a new water treatment facility during the regular meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held Feb. 22, at city hall. Options are being submitted as part of the city’s application to USDA, according to City Administrator Zac Johnson. He said the city is looking in the three to four million dollar range for the water plant.

Students complete Safe Sitter Program at Wright Memorial Hospital

Ten students recently completed the Safe Sitter® Program sponsored by Wright Memorial Hospital on Feb. 6 and 13.

The goal of this national program is to reduce the number of accidental and preventable deaths among children being cared for by babysitters.

St. Joseph man found with marijuana on I-35

On Feb. 23, a white Dodge Intrepid was stopped at the 61-mile marker on I-35 for a window tint violation. Sgt. M.A. Wilhoit detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

The driver, Mitchell Lee Wood of St. Joseph, advised the officer that he was on probation in Putnam County for distribution of a controlled substance. Sgt. Wilhoit explained to Wood that he could smell marijuana inside

Kansas City woman injured in accident on I-35

A Kansas City woman received moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident that occurred at about 7:24 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21, in Daviess County.
