Betty Peters honored for 30 years of service

Betty Peters was honored at a reception on Tuesday at Pamida in Gallatin for over 30 years of service to the community.

Betty worked at the Davis Drug Store for 28 years and with the pharmacy at Pamida for two years. She and her husband Virgil have three children, Stephen, Sharon Groves, and Scott; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Lenora Hibbs celebrates 90th birthday

Lenora Hibbs of Savannah will celebrate her 90th birthday on Jan. 6, 2010.

She was born on that date in 1920. She married Maurice Hibbs in 1938. He passed away in 1991.

She has two children, Ron Hibbs of Forest City and Clifton (Janis) Hibbs of Clarksdale. She has three grandchildren, Randy (Colette) Hibbs of Savannah, Jennifer (Jason) Reed of Parkville and Jodie Cary of Stewartsville and three great-grandchildren, Adrian

Woman injured in two-vehicle accident

A woman from Humphreys received moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident that happened at about 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23, at Jamesport in Daviess County.

According to a report by the Missouri Highway Patrol, Myrtle Boram, 79, was southbound on Route NN in a 1995 Buick pickup and Sherry Winters, 45, Trenton, was westbound on Hwy. 6 in a 2005 Ford SUV.

2009-10 Wrestling: GHS wrestlers split in Tuesday’s double dual action

Gallatin wrestlers hosted South Harrison and Trenton in a double dual Tuesday night in the elementary gym. Gallatin defeated South Harrison, 57-13, in opening action. Trenton knocked off Gallatin, 43-30 in the final dual of the evening.

Peter Steele (125), Mitchell Lewis (145), Matt Atkinson (152), Levi Michener (160) and Jordan Bradley (171) each pinned their South Harrison opponents. Chad Ness won by an 8-1 decision in his 140-pound match.

2009-10 Basketball: Dogs even their record at 3-3 by downing Winston, 65-50

Gallatin’s boys dropped Winston, 65-50, in non-conference action Tuesday night to even their season record at 3-3 heading into tonight’s contest in the NCMC Shootout.

The Bulldogs outscored the Redbirds a combined 31-17 in the opening quarters of each half, and used the three-point arc to keep a double digit lead.

Colton Selby paced Gallatin with 20 points. Derrick Lin finished with 15 points on the strength of four treys.

2009-10 Basketball: Lady Bulldogs win third straight to move to 4-2 on the season

Gallatin’s Lady Bulldogs won their third straight game Tuesday night, beating Winston’s Lady Redbirds, 47-34, and avenging a loss in the consolation final of the Gallatin Invitational.

The Lady Bulldogs jumped on the host Redbirds, 15-4, in the opening quarter and survived a second quarter push to lead 22-19 at the break. A 13-5 third quarter surge gave the GHS gals a double digit lead they would not relinquish.
