City needs cooperation to make snow removal quicker, safer

Although it was nice to have snow falling on Christmas Day, the accumulations of snow over the past several days has made driving in Gallatin very hazardous. City crews have been spending long hours in an effort to clear the snow from the city streets and make it safer for you to get around Gallatin.

Ashley Cameron selected to perform at Carnegie Hall

Ashley Cameron, a senior at Pattonsburg R-2, has been selected for the 2010 American High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall in New York City on June 26, 2010.

The honor of participation in the Honors Band is limited to the highest-rated high school performers identified in the U.S. and Canada.

During this five-day program, Ashley will have several days of rehearsal under the direction of the renowned music

Missouri tax commission raises value for best farmland

Under a tax commission decision approved recently, Missouri farmers who own the most productive crop land may pay higher taxes on their property. Those with less desirable land may get a tax cut.

The Missouri State Tax Commission set new productive values for agricultural land. The values are determined by evaluating the potential earnings of the land. The values are used for calculating property taxes.

Gasperino gets 25 years for armed robbery at Pattonsburg

Michael L. Gasperino, 51, Kansas City, has been sentenced for charges related to an armed residential robbery that occurred April 30, 2009, at Pattonsburg.

The sentencing hearing was conducted by Judge James Valbracht in Daviess County Circuit Court on Dec. 23. Gasperino was found guilty of all charges by a Daviess County jury on Nov. 24.
