Wet soils during harvest causes compaction

The wet weather has growers harvesting crops when soils are wet. Chances are, there will be fields that have ruts and compaction issues. The heavy grain cart paths are of most concern.

So what can growers do to break up compacted areas and smooth the ruts? First, wait till soils are dry to correct deep compaction. Deep compaction can be worsened by tilling deeply.
