Many growers have commented that the Bt gene contained in our new hybrids influence the rate of decomposition of corn residue. The primary drivers of decomposition are the placement of the residue on the soil surface, moisture and temperature. Soil microbes decompose residue and proper moisture and temperature and contact with the soil speed decomposition.
However, Dr. Greg Roth, Penn State Grain Crop Specialists, looked
