Rotary serves lunch to tractor cruise

The Gallatin Rotary Club served lunch to over 45 tractor drivers on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Dockery Park.

Robert Bain from Gilman City led the parade of tractors in a cruise to benefit the Children’s Mercy Hospital and KU Medical Center Pediatric Ward. The tractors traveled from Bethany Fairgrounds, through Pattonsburg, to Gallatin where they stopped for lunch. This is one of the many service projects in which all Gallatin

Reunions – Heldenbrand

The descendants of John Heldenbrand will have their annual family reunion on Sunday, Aug. 2 at the Winston City Park.

A carry-in dinner will be at 12:45 p.m. Drinks and tableware will be provided. Besides food, bring photographs, yard games, horseshoes, lawn chairs, kids and grandkids, etc. Be prepared to have a good time, come early and stay late. All family and friends are invited.

Pattonsburg R-2 school starts Aug. 19

Superintendent Johnnie Silkett told the Pattonsburg R-2 Board of Education that school will start at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, during the regular meeting held Monday, July 20, at the high school library. Students may enter the building at 7:50 for the breakfast line.

Registration for grades 7-12 will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 4-5 in the commons. Seventh grade students and their parents will meet

Visiting during he weekend with Butch and Evelyn Bayne, Julia and Louise Bayne, Coffey, have been Virginia Bayne and her daughter Kim and grandchildren, T.J., Taylor and Trevor of Chicago, Ill.

Granddaughter of Paul and Doris Cameron, Sammy Kidd is in the hospital this week. She is the oldest daughter of Mike and Jenny Kidd of Kansas City.

The Gardner reunion was held Sunday at the Pattonsburg senior center.

Search underway for Outstanding Older Worker

Missouri’s annual Outstanding Older Worker of the Year contest seeks to honor a Missouri resident who is 65 or older, employed at least 20 hours a week, and displays dependability and new skills on the job.

The winner and regional finalists will be recognized at a two-day awards ceremony in September in Jefferson City.

Grazing schools offered in 2009

The Natural Resources Conservation Service and University of Missouri Extension will present two seminars on managing livestock grazing and forages in September 2009.

The "schools" will be offered at Kidder on Sept. 11 and 12 and Clearmont on Sept. 15 and 16. (The Kidder location is actually on the Lillie Alden farm in Daviess County.)
