After holding an executive session, the North Daviess R-3 Board of Education offered a full time elementary position to Hilary Marshall for the 2009-2010 school year. The board accepted the resignation of preschool/Title One teacher Kim Terhune with a 5% contract penalty due to the fact the resignation was after June 1.

The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available power wheelchairs to senior citizens and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify.
The power wheelchairs are provided to those who can no longer walk safely, nor self-propel a manual wheelchair, and who meet the additional guidelines or the program.

Stephen W. (Steve) Swofford 60 passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Kansas City. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday June 24, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Family visitation was one hour prior to service. Burial was in the Centenary Cemetery near Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Centenary Cemetery or Gallatin VFW Post 2172 in care of the funeral home.

Myrick McLey and John Corwin, both of Gallatin Boy Scout Troop 67, were awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at a court of honor on June 21 at the First Christian Church of Gallatin. Both boys have been active in Scouts for many years, having begun as Tiger Cubs in first grade and later earning the Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub Scouting.

Martin Pliego, 35, West Paul, Minn., was arrested June 19 and charged with possession with intent to distribute, manufacture or produce a controlled substance, class B felony. The arrest was made by Sgt. Larry M. Allen at the Shell gas station at the junction of I-35 and U.S. 69.
When a computer check on the vehicle registration came back "not on file," Sgt. Allen called for the assistance
