North Daviess Courtwarming theme was “Here’s to the Knight”

North Daviess Courtwarming was held Jan. 23.

This year’s theme was "Here’s to the Knight." The colors were black, silver and white. Candidates for courtwarming king and queen were: seniors: Tabetha Heiber and Nathan McCrary; juniors Sarah Morris and Dennis Robertson; sophomores Shannon Sherrill and Grant Hartley; freshmen Chasity Billingsley and Isaac Smith.

2008-09 Basketball: GHS girls advance in HIT vs. S. Harrison; Dogs fall in close opener

Mixed results from Monday night’s opening round of the Hamilton Tournament nonetheless put Gallatin teams playing again on the same night.

The Lady Bulldogs easily handled Trenton, 57-26, to advance to a semifinal showdown with South Harrison tonight (Wednesday) at 7:30 p.m. Gallatin’s boys fell to #4 seed Maysville, 48-45, and will face Lathrop in the loser’s bracket at 9 p.m.

Pattonsburg board accepts resignation of superintendent

Upon returning to open meeting after an executive session, the Pattonsburg R-2 Board of Education approved the resignation of Superintendent Cheryl Cornett, who is retiring at the end of the 08-09 school year.

Bills in the amount of $150,117.39 were approved for payment.

2008-09 Wrestling: Gallatin wrestlers defeat #7 small class team in state

Gallatin varsity wrestlers are on a roll … one they hope will continue to pick up momentum as the season winds down toward conference and district tournaments.

The Bulldogs knocked off Lathrop, 45-35, last Thursday in dual action, then finished second to the #7 ranked Mules in Saturday’s Lathrop seven-team invitational.

Two Pattonsburg students nominated for national scholarship program

Becca Bowland and Chase Conover, Pattonsburg R-2 seniors and members of the Pattonsburg National Honor Society, have been nominated to compete in the National Honor Society scholarship.

The National Honor Society is a program of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

Lady Hornet coach David Prather receives national award

David Prather, head coach of the Hamilton Lady Hornets, has been named 2008 Coach of the Year in Missouri for girls basketball.

The prestigious award comes from the National Federation of State High School Coaches Association, the official national coaches association of the National Federation of State High School Associations. (NFHS). Prather led the Lady Hornets to a 32-0 record and Missouri Class 2 State title in 2007-08.
