Pattonsburg aldermen review price increases; properties now on world-wide database

Pattonsburg City Clerk Karen Shepherd informed the Pattonsburg Board of Aldermen of price increases during their regular meeting held Dec. 17.

This month White Cloud Engineering lagoon testing prices went up $5 per month and Veolia Trash Service went up 61 cents per customer per month.

Bills for December were reviewed and bills paid.

Missouri Soybean farmers pushing yields to new levels; two growers top 100 bushel mark

Missouri has long been known as a great place to grow soybeans. Two farmers are helping to prove it, growing soybeans that yielded more than 100 bushels per acre in the Missouri Soybean Association’s (MSA) 14th Annual Yield Contest.

Jail inmate caught after escape

OREGON, Mo. (AP) – A Holt County jail inmate doing time for auto theft is accused of stealing the keys to a patrol car on Christmas night and taking off into Kansas.

Officials say 42-year-old Ross Archer, formerly of Jamesport, was a model prisoner until he went out to empty the trash and didn’t come back.

Vera M. Everly

1921-2008

Lee’s Summit, MO. – Vera Everly 87 formerly of the Jameson and Coffey passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at the St. Luke’s East Hospital. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday December 26 at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Family visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Coffey Cemetery. Mildred Litton

1910-2008

Mildred Kathryn Tomlinson Litton was born on Feb. 22, 1910 in Daviess County to Leonidas (Lon) Tomlinson and Cora Ethel Youtsey Tomlinson; the fourth of six children. Mildred attended school at Carlow and then Lock Springs, where she graduated with the class of 1928. During her high school years she met a young Daviess County man named Charley Oscar Litton. They married in Hiawatha, Kan., on March 30, 1929.

Margaret Kreiser

Private graveside services for Margaret Kreiser will be held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallatin, under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph.

Margaret (Robertson) McNeel Kreiser, 87, Union Star, died on Dec 27, 2008, at a local health care center.
Mrs. Kreiser was the fourth child born to Raymond and Golda (Silvy) Robertson on April 14, 1921, at Coffey.
She married Ralph Austin McNeel on Aug. 8, 1943;

Funeral services for Max Daniel were held Dec. 27 at Poland-Thompson Chapel, Cameron. Burial was at Osborn Evergreen Cemetery, Osborn. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
