Veterans visit Title 1 reading classes

Eight Veterans visited with Mrs. Youtsey’s Title 1 Reading students on Veteran’s Day to answer questions and to share their stories about the war they were in.

The students worked on map skills, time lines, and after asking questions and visiting they had to write a report on each of the veterans that visited their group. Pictured are Shad Mort and Gary Redman working with third graders on their map

Winston R-6 sets filing dates

The Winston R-6 Board of Education set filing dates for two seats on the school board during their regular meeting held Wednesday, Nov. 19. Dates are December 6, 2008, through January 22, 2009.

North Daviess sets dates for board filing, blood drive, winter program

Filing dates for board election were set for December 16, 2008, through January 20, 2009, during the regular meeting of the North Daviess R-3 Board of Education’s held Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Jameson.

Filing will be available at both the high school and elementary buildings. Election will be held in April, 2009.

There will be a blood drive at the high school from 2-8 p.m. on December 1.

Cards and dominoes are every Friday evening. This week we will be celebrating the wedding anniversary of Lee and Lillian Ortego. They will be furnishing the main dishes for the evening meal.

Visitors during the weekend of Tommie and Lavena Lowrey were Scott and Angie Crowder, Jared and Jenna and Evelyn Bayne. Scott and Angie and children also visited Clyde and Mildred Hulet Sunday, a surprise for Clyde’s birthday.

Gallatin Clubs – Laureate Delta Rho

Fifteen members of Laureate Delta Rho met on November 17 at Breadeaux Pisa with President Evelyn Riley for a short business meeting.

Service Chairman Lois Barton reported she will contact all members regarding the family we will adopt for Christmas. All items should be brought to the December 1 meeting at Ruth Frost’s home. The chapter enjoyed a silent auction after pizza and the meeting.

Geri Hamby

A memorial service for Geri Hamby was held Monday, Nov. 17, at the Maysville United Methodist Church. Cremation was under the direction of Bram-Turner Funeral Home, Maysville. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity, the planting of a tree, or the Ensign Memorial Scholarship Fund to assist rural students with their college expenses, in care of Nodaway Bank P.O. Box 7315, St. Joseph, Mo., 64507.

Jerry Fraze

A memorial service for Jerry Fraze was held Saturday at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home in Cameron. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.

Jerry Dale Fraze, 57, Lathrop, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008.
Rev. Fraze was born Nov. 5, 1951, in Trumann, Ark., to Rufus and Jewell (Ballard) Fraze.

Rev Fraze was in the ministry and currently the pastor at the Coffey Baptist Church.
