Reunion-Gardner

Sunday the Gardner reunion was held at the Pattonsburg senior center.

Daviess County Courthouse News (7-29-08)

 County Commission

James Lewis, bridge supervisor, reported that flood damage is still being repaired.

Dick Carpenter, Harrison Township, met with the commission regarding road problems in that township.

Harrington and Cortelyou Engineering contacted the commission regarding bridge number 1860006. If minor repairs are made, the load limit will be increased to 11 tons. The bridge was recently closed by state inspectors.

Jury convicts Kansas City man of marijuana-growing conspiracy

On July 25, a Kansas City man was convicted by a federal jury for his role in a marijuana-growing operation in Daviess County, according to John F. Wood, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.

Ilene Dilley

Funeral services for Ilene Dilley were held Friday at the Salvation Army Church in Kirksville. Arrangements were under the direction of Travis-Noe Funeral Home of Kirksville. Jerry Alcock

There will be no service at this time for Jerry Alcock. Arrangements are by McWilliams Funeral Home, Gallatin.

Jerry L. Alcock, 73, Cameron, died at the Missouri Veterans Home on Sunday, July 27, 2008.

He served in the United States Army.

Mr. Alcock was a self-employed carpenter for most of his life.

He is survived by nephews, Joe and Jim Alcock; sister-in-law, Gail Alcock; and cousin, Don Wigglesworth, Winston.

Family visitation and memorial service for Heath Galpin were held Tuesday at Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon, Mo. Graveside committal service was at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Forest City Cemetery, Forest City. Memorials may be made to Shriners or Hands of Hope Hospice.

Verl Dean Lewis

Funeral services are pending for Verl Dean Lewis at North Nixa Baptist Church, Nixa. Burial will be at Prospect Cemetery in Ozark, Mo. Memorial Contributions may be made to North Nixa Baptist Church Building Fund.

Verl Dean Lewis, 79 of Nixa, died at his home on Wednesday, July 30.

He was married to Evelyn Miller on Nov. 7, 1946.

Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by a great-grandson Nathan Hosfield.

Street work waits on the weather

Street Superintendent Teddy Holcomb told the Gallatin Board of Aldermen that the street department is ready to start asphalting as soon as weather permits during their regular meeting held Monday, July 28, at city hall.
