Vandalism was reported at the Jamesport High School on March 18. The front door glass had been broken out with a car axle. The axle had been left at the door.

Brian Habelitz, 20, and Stephen McQuinn, 51, both of Gallatin, were charged March 20 with burglary/stealing, class C felony, as well as misdemeanor property damage and theft/stealing. The charges stem from an incident at the apartments located

North Daviess board discusses need for day care

Susan Jones presented information to the North Daviess R-3 Board of Education regarding the need for day care in the school district for three- and four-year-olds along with after-school care for children up to the age of 12. She gave some financial information of costs to provide the day care. There will be more research presented next month.

Rehearsals in full swing for Arsenic and Old Lace

Rehearsal is in full swing at the Courter Theatre in Gallatin for the spring production Arsenic and Old Lace.

Dates of the production are April 3, 4 and 5 at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the theatre, Thursdays and Fridays 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Courter Theatre on Main Street Gallatin. Tickets will also be available at the door

Benefit for Roberts family

A benefit will be held for the Doug Roberts family who lost all of their belonging in a house fire at rural Jameson.

Gallatin police arrest two on burglary charges

On Thursday, March 20, the Gallatin Police Department arrested Stephen E. McQuinn, 52, of Gallatin on charges of burglary, stealing and trespassing.

Also arrested was Brian J. Habelitz, 29, of Gallatin on charges of burglary, stealing, trespassing and resisting arrest.

Deer everywhere…but

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has made an analysis of deer involvement in Missouri traffic crashes for 2006 as part of its Traffic Safety Compendium.

It may come as a surprise to Daviess County residents to learn that of the 113 counties in the state of Missouri, fewer deer are hit in our county than all the others.

New OATS vehicle

During the month of March, 2008, OATS, Inc. received a new replacement vehicle for Daviess County.

The vehicle, a 2008 Ford E-350, was purchased by OATS through a Section 5309 capital assistance grant under the Federal Transit Administration, administered by the Missouri Department of Transportation.
Federal funds paid for 80% of the cost of the bus. The remaining 20% was provided in part by the OATS Daviess County Support Committee.

Four days of crisis response training to be offered at William Wood May 13-16

Crisis response training has become important, even necessary, to a community’s ability to survive a disaster.
