No rhyme or reason for Leap Year

This is leap year, the year in every four we have a 29th day in February. Let’s see, how does that old poem go? “Thirty days hath September, April, June and November. All the rest have 31, except February which has, uh…”I do fine remembering the poem until the part explaining how to determine which year is leap year. At that point, the poem loses its rhyme

Post Scripts: Vandalism demands action

Unknown persons, in a growing number of cemeteries across America dating back to the Revolutionary War under the outstretched limbs of ancient trees, are today missing something. Hefty bronze plaques are missing from ancient graves that have been pried off veterans’ headstones to be sold for scrap metal in New York State. Such brazen thefts have left a void that extends far beyond the gravesites.

Phillips receives degree winter, 2007

More than 2,000 students received degrees during the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s winter commencement ceremonies, Sunday, Dec, 16, 2007, including Jesse Gene Phillips of Gallatin, who is majoring in nuclear engineering and engineering physics/Master of Science.

Dance Company begins new season, competes at Follies

Competition team members from the Dance Company of Gallatin recently competed in the Regional Sophisticated Dance Competition at the Follies in Kansas City.

The competition was offered as an optional contest for team members. Approximately a third of the Dance Company team members performed in tap, lyrical, pom-pon and clogging categories.
The members came home with gold and platinum adjudicated awards. Dancers also received eight special judge’s awards. Sophisticated Production

Swalleys celebrate 40th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Swalley of Jamesport will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on March 4, 2008.
