Winston R-6 superintendent’s contract continued

Winston R-6 Superintendent Lisa Bielby’s will continue her tenure as superintendent, fulfilling the second year of her two year contract, following a decision made by the R-6 Board of Education at their regular meeting held Jan. 17.

North Daviess R-3 superintendent contract offered to Becky Morris

A superintendent’s contract was offered to Becky Morris for $60,000 for the 2008-2009 school year after the North Daviess R-3 Board of Education returned from an executive session of their regular meeting held Jan. 14. Mrs. Morris had been serving as the elementary principal at R-3. High School Principal Kristi Weldon was also offered a contract.

2008 Hamilton Tournament: Tonight’s semi finds Gallatin and Lathrop girls striving to reach next level

Gallatin’s #2 seeded girls face #3 Lathrop tonight (Wednesday) at 7:30 in the semifinal round of the Hamilton Tournament. Both teams come in with respectable records, but each would like to turn it up a notch after struggling, at times, in their openers.

Albany’s girls outscored Gallatin from the foul line, 13 to 8, but the Lady Bulldogs had the last word by hitting four bonus free throw shots to close out a 44-35 Grand River Conference victory on Friday.

Financial aid meeting for GHS senior parents rescheduled

The financial aid meeting for parents of Gallatin R-5 seniors has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 6:30 p.m. in the Gallatin High School library.

Topics at meeting will include the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, Missouri Financial Aid, and Parent and Student Loans.

Rescheduled dates set for GHS sports

Makeup dates have been set for finals of Gallatin’s junior varsity basketball tournament, as well as a pair of varsity wrestling events.

The junior varsity tournament will be concluded this Saturday, Jan. 26, with the following schedule: 10 a.m. – 3rd place girls Hamilton vs. Trenton; 11:15 a.m. – 3rd place boys Gallatin vs. Trenton; 12:30 p.m. – Championship girls Gallatin vs. South Harrison; and 1:45 p.m. –

Daviess County Courthouse News (1-23-08) – Dangerous Chase on Highway 6

Sheriff’s Office

Debra Kloiber, 39, Excelsior Springs, was arrested Jan. 20 and charged with seven felonies and two misdemeanors. The charges stem from a pursuit which occurred when Trooper B.F. Maudlin attempted to make a traffic stop on Missouri Highway 6, west of Jamesport. During the westbound pursuit on Highway 6, Kloiber made multiple lane violations and exceeded 100 mph. A head-on collision was narrowly avoided when Kloiber attempted to
