Traffic stop nabs marijuana suspect

On Dec. 20, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol stopped a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche pickup on I-35 at the 58-mile marker for a traffic violation.

 The trooper noticed an odor of marijuana. Consent to search the vehicle was obtained and 180 pounds of marijuana was located in the cargo area of the pickup.

Kenneth and Evelyn Dilley attended an 11th birthday party for Shelbey Dilley at the home of Dan and Becky Dilley Saturday afternoon. Sunday Kenneth Browning was spending the day with grandparents, Kenneth and Evelyn Dilley.

Area accidents involve McFall family of 3, Coffey father and daughter, Gilman City man

Three family members from McFall were injured in an accident at 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, on Hwy. 69, one mile north of Pattonsburg in Daviess County.

According to a report by the Missouri Highway Patrol, Krista Tipton, 15, McFall was southbound on Hwy. 69. Her vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck several trees.

Helen Courter celebrates 90th birthday

Helen Courter will celebrate her 90th birthday on Dec. 29. Helen married Henry “Hank” Courter on Dec. 24, 1938.

She taught school for 35 years and they lived on a farm in Coffey before moving to Bethany. Henry passed away in July, 2001.
