Daviess County Courthouse News (8-29-07)

James Lewis, bridge supervisor reported that they are continuing repairs.

Bo Harris met with the commission regarding supervising community service workers. She stated that she had not been asked to supervise the workers. Cleaning of the courthouse bathrooms was discussed. She stated that all anyone has to do is call her or leave a note on her door and she will do what is asked of her.

Cub Scout recruitment night Sept. 6

Cub Scout Pack 67 is beginning their new year.

The first Pack meeting of this year will be a recruitment night on Thursday, Sept. 6. The meeting will be held in the Searcy Elementary gym from 6 to 8 p.m. Recruitment nights are open to any boy currently in first through fourth grade. The old wood stove was much depended on in Depression Days

In the Depression days, people usually depended on either coal or wood for heating and cooking. Townspeople used much of the coal, which had to be delivered by horse and wagon. Farmers could go to the timber to cut their own firewood.

Stephanie Irene Dutro

Makalia, Amelie and Macon would like to announce the birth of Stephanie Irene Dutro. Stephanie was born at 9:44 a.m. at Wright Memorial Hospital on Aug. 8.

She weighed 6 pounds, 10.4 ounces, and was 19 inches long. Parents are Eddie and Danielle Dutro of Gallatin.
