Newspapers across America are suffering declines in their advertising and, even worse, their readership, measured by declining circulation. Only two major, big city newspapers in the United States have bucked the trend and they were New York City tabloids. The industry as a whole reported a 2.1 percent drop in weekday circulation and 3.1 on Sundays.
