Fred Albrecht in VA Hospital

Fred Albrecht, former Gallatin resident, is hospitalized at the V.A. Hospital in Fort Meade, S.D., under hospice care. He would appreciate cards and letters.

Jamie Tummons exhibits grand champion heifer in Fort Worth

Jamie Tummons, a former student at Gallatin High School, and presently an FFA member from Waxahachie, exhibited the grand champion heifer and won the showmanship class in the Polled Hereford Junior Heifer Show at the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show in Fort Worth, Texas.

Grand River Technical School (GRTS) faculty and administrators are pleased to announce honor roll award recipients for the third quarter.

The Daviess County Business Womens’ Association met at the First Baptist Church for a carry-in salad supper.

Simecek graduates from Army Officer Candidate School

In a Capitol Rotunda ceremony, 2nd Lt. Nathan Simecek, of Kansas City, graduated from the Accelerated Army Officer Candidate School on March 24.

Simecek was one of eight Missouri Army National Guard officer candidates honored for successfully meeting the physical, academic, leadership and tactical requirements of the accelerated course.

Simecek has accepted an aviation officer position in the 1-135th Aviation Battalion at Whiteman Air Force Base.

NCMC summer registration begins April 23

New student registration begins Monday, April 23 by appointment for students planning to attend the summer session at North Central Missouri College.

Students who have not yet completed their NCMC application may contact the Admissions Office at 359-3948, extension 410. Those who have can make a class registration appointment by calling the Staff Assistant at extension 418. A walk-in registration, with no appointments necessary, will be held on May 4

Whitt inducted into honor society

Jared Whitt of Gallatin, was inducted into the Mu Delta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa on April 19 at the Kansas City Kansas Community College campus.

The international honor society for two year schools serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of students. Jared is working on his Mortuary Science associated arts degree and plans to graduate in May 2008.

GHCAA meets May 1

The regular meeting of the Green Hills Community Action Agency (GHCAA) Board of Directors will be held at the GHCAA Area Office, 1506 OklahoGma Avenue, Trenton, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1.
