R-3 budget discussed, school will become “hold harmless”

Superintendent Julie Kirby gave the North Daviess Board of Education several facts about the budget outlook for the next school year during their regular meeting held Monday, March 12.

The district will become "hold harmless," meaning that the school cannot receive less state funding than they received the year before.

The Daviess County Business Women’s Association resumed monthly meetings on March 13, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Hazele Tomlinson and Sandy Vyrostek welcomed 14 members and guest Maxine Linville. Kalani-O-Makana catered dinner. Karen Reed and Lila Weissenbach joined members for dinner and provided interesting programs afterwards. Karen’s account of the Thrift Shop, located at the church, was very informative and contained facts about the work

Daviess County third graders attend water festival, learn about soil erosion, conservation

University of Missouri Extension hosted a Water Festival for 95 Daviess County third grade students and their teachers on March 13 at the First Baptist Church in Gallatin.

Those schools participating included Tri-County, Gallatin, Pattonsburg and North Daviess. The students spent a full day learning about soil erosion, water conservation, pollution, the water cycle and the dependency of living creatures upon the water supply. This was the second year for
