SWCD Annual Meeting March 19

The Daviess County Soil & Water Conservation District Annual Meeting is Monday, March 19 at Tri-County Elementary Cafeteria, Jamesport.

The free catered meal will be served by the Tri-County High School FCCLA. Registration begins at 5 p.m. and the meal served at 6 p.m. Meal reservations for soil district cooperators and invited guests are required by Friday, March 9.

Janet Kay Gray

Janet Kay Gray, the daughter of Don and Geraldine Newey, was born April 3, 1947 in St. Joseph, Mo.

Funeral services for Virginia DeShon-Pugh-Head were held Tuesday at the Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton. Interment was at Highland Cmemetery, Hamilton. Memorials may be made to the Hamilton United Methodist Church.

James Carpenter

Graveside service for James Carpenter were held Monday at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe. Arrangements were by Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home, Trenton.

James H. Carpenter, 85, Trenton, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007. Born at Darlington, Mr. Carpenter farmed near Gilman City, and worked as a janitor for Trenton R-9 schools.
He is survived by cousin, Bill Sutton, and wife, Dorothy of Chillicothe.

Evalene Stephens

Memorial services for Evalene Stephens were held Saturday, Feb. 24, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Lock Springs Cemetery near Lock Springs. Eleven Winston R-6 music students participated in District Middle School Music Festival at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville on Feb. 17.

Receiving a rating of I were Tabitha Piburn-clarinet, Dylan Shanks-snare drum, and Denise Weigand-flute; Receiving a rating of 2+ were Emily McFee-flute, Courtney Riggs-flute, and Kristen Heldenbrand-tenor saxophone; Receiving a rating of 2 were Noah Bielby-voice, Cody Youtsey-trumpet, Robert Keeper-trumpet, Tyler Grann-trumpet, and Samantha Parman-alto saxophone.
