Caden Lowell Littrell

Christa and Mike Littrell are proud to announce the birth of a child, Caden Lowell on Dec. 8, 2006.

Caden weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 20 inches long. Caden has a sister, Rebecca, 2.

Maternal grandparents are Bill and Rose Ann Sullenger of Gallatin. Maternal great-grandparent is Rhea Spainhower, Liberty.

Paternal grandparents are Lowell and Marlene Littrell, Bethany. Paternal great-grandmother is Mona King, Churdan, Iowa.

“Northwest Missouri Horticulture”: Great Plains Vegetable Conference

One of the premier conferences for vegetable growers is found right here in northwest Missouri. Held in St. Joseph, the Great Plains Vegetable Conference is put together every year by Extension educators from five states: Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota. The conference will be held next month on Jan. 11-13, 2007.

PeeWee Wrestling

Peewee wrestling tourney set for Jan. 12

Gallatin’s annual peewee wrestling mini camp and tournament for students at Covel D. Searcy Elementary is coming up Friday, Jan. 12.

Christmas display honors county soldiers

For the second year in a row Georgia Maxwell and Janie McKinsy of the Daviess County Recorder’s office presented a display at Dockery Park in Gallatin recognizing Daviess County servicemen and servicewomen. Names of the soldiers are printed on a star and hung on an evergreen tree in the park.

Winston FFA, community collect toys for tots

Recently, the Winston FFA Chapter held a Toys-4-Tots drive.

Many of the faculty members and students and the community worked together hand in hand with the FFA to make sure that other children would have Christmas presents this year, as well. The toy drive was for Green Hills Community Action Agency in Gallatin. These toys will be distributed to children throughout Daviess County. All together, they were able to collect

Meningococcal vaccine available

The Daviess County Health Department would like to notify all parents of children ages 11-20 that the Menactra (Meningococcal) Vaccine is available until April 2007 due to an overstock.

This is especially important for high school seniors planning on attending college. After April 2007 this vaccine will only be available to 11-18 yr olds that have Medicaid or are uninsured.

Area law enforcement agencies honored at annual torch run awards banquet

Law enforcement agencies from around the state were honored for their outstanding achievements and dedication to Special Olympics Missouri on Dec. 8 at the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run Awards Luncheon in Jefferson City.

Award winners for LETR Region 3 include: Highest Gross Increase, with $3,601 – Crossroads Correctional Center; Greatest Percentage Increase, with 31% – Crossroads Correctional Center; and Outstanding Volunteer / Unsung Hero Award – Sandy Lehr, MSHP
