Gallatin FCCLA adopts two families for Christmas

The Gallatin FCCLA chapter adopted two families as part of their Christmas community service. The families were ones that might not have otherwise been able to purchase Christmas presents. Chapter members chose and shopped for gifts from the families wish lists. Shown here are members with the gifts before delivering them to the Green Hills Community Action Agency

Daviess County Courthouse News (12/27/06)

Different judge will now oversee circuit court in Daviess County

 Circuit Court

Beginning in January, Judge Warren L. McElwain of Maysville will handle circuit court in Daviess, Caldwell and DeKalb Counties. He had previously been supervising circuit court in Livingston, DeKalb and Caldwell Counties.

Judge Stephen K. Griffin of Cameron, will supervise circuit court in Livingston and Clinton Counties. He had previously been supervising circuit court in Clinton and Daviess

Funeral services for Edna Nichols were held 1 p.m. today (Wednesday), Dec. 27, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Interment was at Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallatin. Memorials may be made to the Gallatin Senior Citizens Center.

Edna Clarice Nichols, 90, formerly of Gallatin, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at the Springfield Rehab and Healthcare Center.
Mrs. Nichols was born May 19, 1916, to Sanford Joseph and Clarice (Roberts) Briner in Gallatin.

Graveside services for Ethel Caldwell were held at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday), Dec. 27, at Mount Ayr Cemetery, Altamont. Arrangements were by Poland-Thompson Chapel, Cameron.

Ethel Mae Caldwell, 93, Lathrop, formerly of Altamont, died on Dec. 22, 2006, at her daughter’s, home.
Mrs. Caldwell was born July 7, 1913, in Altamont, to Charles and Edna (Parmley) Everman.

A scheduled family visitation for Janie Eads was held Tuesday at McWilliams Family Funeral Home in Jamesport. Graveside rites were held at 2 p.m. (today) Wednesday at Jamesport Masonic Cemetery. The family has asked that memorial contributions be given to the American Cancer Association in Janie’s memory.

Lucas and Jaclyn Ford are blessed to announce the arrival of Wyatt Indiana and Sawyer Harrison Ford.

 They arrived Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006, at 11:18 and 11:19 a.m. at North Kansas City Hospital. They weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces, and 5 pounds, 14 ounces.

Recognition for GHS athletes from St. Joseph News Press

 News-Press names 9 GHS athletes to 2006 special teams

The St. Joseph News-Press released its 2006 All News-Press sports teams over the weekend, and Gallatin R-5 athletes received several spots on the all-area honor squads.

Three Lady Bulldogs were recognized for their success in fall sports. Senior Danielle Critten was a second-team N-P honoree for girls golf. Junior Lacey Dixon and sophomore Maggie Strange were named to the second-team N-P
