FBLA members attend National Fall Leadership Conference

Two members of the Gallatin Future Business Leaders of America attended the organization’s National Fall Leadership Conference in Jacksonville, Fla., from Nov. 9-11. Jonathan and Phillip Arnold were chaperoned by Adviser Barb Holcomb.

 While there, they participated in several leadership workshops, covering topics such as business ethics, use of Adobe Photoshop software, and state officer briefings.

Financial Aid workshop scheduled

Gallatin High School’s financial aid workshop for high school seniors and juniors and their parents has been scheduled at the Gallatin High School library from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

This workshop is a regional one, with Gallatin hosting the event for all seniors from the surrounding school districts. Seniors from Winston, Jamesport, Jameson, Pattonsburg, Breckenridge, Gilman City and Hamilton have been especially invited to attend.

Lake Viking Quilters Guild donates 55 quilts to Green Hills for Christmas

The Lake Viking Quilters Guild has donated quilts to the Green Hills Community Action Agency for the third year in a row. The 55 quilts are all of new material and are all different sizes, colors, shapes and fabrics.

They are machine sewn and hand tied. Marie Toney of GHCA said she would begin distributing the quilts for Christmas on Dec. 15 and each new family will receive a quilt.

Velma Carter

Funeral services for Velma Carter were held Monday, at the Roberson Funeral Home, Pattonsburg. Burial was in Cope Cemetery, Weatherby. Arrangements were by Roberson Funeral Home in Pattonsburg.

Velma A. (Calvin) Carter, 84, Pattonsburg, formerly of Weatherby and Kansas City died Friday, Nov. 24, 2006.

Mrs. Carter was born Dec. 27, 1921, in Santa Rosa, the daughter of Everett and Mabel (McDaniel) Calvin.
