We don’t expect you to let new trees and shrubs dry up and die, but our yards have been hit hard by a lack of rain and cooler weather. So watering them isn’t going to be that much more helpful.

Circuit Court

Daviess County Circuit Court

Probation was revoked for Joshua W. Gott, 27, Trenton, on a change of venue from Livingston County, on a class B felony charge of attempted statutory rape first degree. The previously imposed 10-year sentence was executed, with the court retaining jurisdiction for 120 days under RSMo. 559.115. He is to attend the sexual offender assessment unit.

County Commission

Daviess County Commission Report

James Lewis, bridge supervisor, met with the commission reporting on bridge repairs being made.

Bills were audited and paid.

A recommendation was received from the Daviess County Health Department Board of Trustees to appoint Cheryl Alexander to the administrator’s position, vacated by the resignation of Mr. Hunsucker. The recommendation was approved.

Daviess County Associate Circuit Court Report

James B. Brostrom, 48, Overland Park, Kan., has been charged with five felony counts of assault second degree/ operating vehicle while intoxicated, resulting in injury, in connection with a head-on collision that occurred July 7 on Highway 69 east of Winston.

Brostrom’s westbound vehicle crossed the center line, striking a vehicle driven by Bobbie Lynn of Gallatin. Four children in the Lynn vehicle were

Daviess County Sheriff’s Department Report

Mark A. Kortz, 38, Pattonsburg, was arrested July 17 for misdemeanor driving while revoked. He posted $750 bond.

Michael Birmingham, 40, Marshall, was arrested July 23 for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge of property damage. He posted $500 bond.

Lisa A. Smith, 43, Kansas City, was charged July 21 for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond
