Salmon Reunions

Descendants of Urlin Salmon and Auluna Salmon Groomer held a reunion Saturday, June 18, at the Pattonsburg Senior Citizen Center. Forrest Morris, Marie Wheeler, and their families were hosts.

The group enjoyed a covered dish dinner, looking at and taking photos, and visiting.

The occasion was special to two couples celebrating their 50th wedding anniversaries: Maurice and Marie Wheeler of Mound City, married June 19, and Jim and Vivian Scott

Hattie Rains elected to State 4-H council

Hattie Rains recently returned from Columbia where she was elected to the 2005-2006 Missouri State 4-H Council. The election was held at the 60th Annual State 4-H Congress in Columbia June 1-3. About 350 young people attended this year’s congress.

Council members represent the nearly 27,712 4-H Club members in Missouri. The council is also responsible for the coordination of two major youth leadership conferences each year. Those conferences are

Kara Sullenger graduates from W.J.C.

Kara Morgan Sullenger graduated with honors May 7, 2005, from William Jewell College in Liberty. In her four years at W.J.C. she graduated Magna Cum Laude with two degrees. Gallatin FFA attends state camp

Ten members of the Gallatin FFA Chapter attended the Missouri FFA State Leadership Camp at the Lake of the Ozarks in Kaiser June 20-24. There were 200 FFA members from across the state attending week three of the six-week camp.

Jessica Ehly graduates with honors from Marquette University

On May 22, 2005, Jessica Ehly graduated at the 124th commencement of Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis. Cokie Roberts, a political commentator for ABC News gave the commencement address. Jessica graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in business administration with majors in accounting and international business and a minor in Spanish. Jessica left for Antwerp, Belgium, the same day, escorting a group of business students from the university.

Lindsey Dustman dances in national competitions

Lindsey Dustman, daughter of Lynn and Jean Dustman of Laredo, danced in the Spot Light National Competition held in Branson on June 21. She received a high first diamond award. Lindsey is a student of Gayla’s Dance at Trenton. She is the granddaughter of Wilbur and Margaret Burns and Joyce Dustman, all of Gallatin.

DeShon’s teaching license revoked

DeShon admitted in federal court in March that he embezzled $844,477 over four years from the district

The state Board of Education voted Thursday to take away the teaching license of a former superintendent who stole more than $800,000 from his school district.

The board, with little discussion, revoked the licenses of Ronnie DeShon, former superintendent of the Pattonsburg School District.

Nile G. Frost

Nile G. Frost, 89, died Tuesday, June 28, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph

Funeral services for Nile Frost will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Friends may call at 10 a.m. on Friday, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Burial will be at Civil Bend Christian Cemetery, near Pattonsburg.
