FFA Week at Gallatin R-5

FFA Week is Feb. 20-26. Events slated at the Gallatin High School include: Sunday – Services at the Catholic Church; Monday – Business Appreciation Day, Hat Day; Tuesday – Teacher Appreciation Day; FFA T-Shirt Day; Wednesday – Field trip with fifth and sixth grades, POA meeting, Camo Day; Thursday – Eighth grade recruitment, Jacket Day; Friday – Barnyard Day, Farmer Day.

FFA members recognized

Missouri Area 2 FFA Association held its annual proficiency selection for area members. Proficiency awards are given to members with quality SAE projects.

Chase Hiley received second place area proficiency award for Forestry Management and Products. He cut and delivered firewood to his customers during the winter and cleared fence lines. Chase also received third place in Special Animal Production for raising emu. He had four birds and sold the

Winston celebrates National FFA Week

The week of Feb. 20-25, the Winston FFA Chapter is celebrating National FFA Week. During the week, the chapter dedicated different theme days.

Sunday — the chapter attended the United Methodist Church in Winston.

Monday — Blue and Gold Day. Chapter members wore blue and gold to represent the colors of the National FFA.

Tuesday — Teacher Appreciation Day. The students set out meat and cheese trays for the teachers.

North Daviess FFA celebrates with auction, dinner

The North Daviess FFA will be holding a community dinner and member auction on Saturday, Feb. 26, from 6-8 p.m. The dinner and auction will take place in the high school cafeteria located in Jameson. The member auction will begin at 7 p.m. and all 10 high school FFA members will be auctioned off for eight hours of work. Come on down and enjoy some chili, vegetable, or taco soup

Eleven apply for State FFA Degree, Erin Croy selected Star Agribusinessman

On Feb. 2, 2005, the Gallatin FFA Chapter submitted the application of 11 members for the State FFA Degree. Each of these members is a senior.

The Area II Committee checked the applications and found them to be accurate. Those submitting applications this year include Erin Croy, Eric Daniels, Stefanie Dowell, Aaron Everly, Emily Gay, Matt Hostetler, John Gardner, Drayson Leeper, Kelsie Parker, John Runde and Kathy Walker.

Gallatin FFA has record number of area proficiency winners

On Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, the Area II FFA teachers met to select proficiency awards for 2005. Gallatin FFA advisors Dennis Croy and Chris Henderson submitted 46 applications for Gallatin FFA members.

Proficiency Awards are selected for student agriculture projects of SAEs. There are 50 possible areas that a student can apply in.

Gallatin Chapter National Chapter Award

The Gallatin FFA Chapter stayed active through the summer by hosting the Annual Gallatin FFA Tractor Pull once again. The event was a success. FFA members also stayed busy throughout the summer with livestock shows, rodeos, races, camp and even community service events.

The Chapter helped at Kid’s Kamp this year. They provided the service of a petting zoo for the camper’s enjoyment.

FFA Chapter to Host Fundraiser Breakfast

Pattonsburg FFA Chapter will host the traditional Appreciation Breakfast for the supporters of the chapter and agriculture program and also include a scholarship fundraiser. At this year’s breakfast the FFA will raise money for the George Peugh Scholarship Fund.

The breakfast is being hosted by the FFA Chapter with monetary help from Grand River Ag. Chris’ Cakes, from Maryville, will be cooking

FCCLA reaches exceeds goals for Ronald McDonald House

The Gallatin FCCLA Chapter has been working hard to raise money for the new $11 million Ronald McDonald House being built in Kansas City across the street from Children’s Mercy Hospital. Chapter members have participated in several projects throughout the school year.

In November, the community service committee consisting of Brittney Hixson, Melissa Craig, Alyssa Strein, Kara Kloepping and Allie Michener as chairs, went to Covel D. Searcy Elementary School
