Steeple erected on new Mormon church

Rising over 40 feet above the roofline, a stately steeple was erected atop the $1.1 million Mormon church now under construction along Highway 6 in Gallatin. The prefabricated unit from Munns Mfg., of Garfund, Utah, was permanently positioned last Wednesday. Church construction is on schedule according to the general contractor, Excel, Inc. The work began last April and may be finished by November.

Park board plans to submit grant for improvements

Lance Rains discussed grant funds with members of the Gallatin Park Board during their regular meeting held Aug. 16. Mr. Rains said he would be willing to help with whatever he could and is going to send board member Michelle Allen information regarding grants.

Melvin Morris

Melvin Earnest Morris, 91, Cameron, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, at the Cameron Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Melvin Morris, formerly of the Gallatin area, were held Monday, Aug. 23, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Private burial will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kan.

Jim McVicker, 70, Pattonsburg, formerly of Cameron, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at his home.

Funeral services for Jim McVicker were held Monday at the Roberson Funeral Home in Pattonsburg. Burial was in the Cameron Memory Gardens. Ruby R. Hollingsworth, 80, Hamilton, died Aug. 19, 2004, at the hospital in Cameron.

Funeral services for Ruby Hollingsworth, a native of Coffey, were held Monday at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. Interment was at Highland Cemetery, Hamilton.
