School funds up, surprising

The Gallatin R-5 Board of Education had a pleasant surprise at their July 15 meeting.

The final numbers for 2003-04 appear to be positive, reflecting an increase in the closing balance of about $300,000. The district received state funding in May and June which was not expected to be available, but the state’s economy was stronger than predicted. Fund established to send gymnast’s family to Athens

The family of Terin Humphrey, Olympic gymnast

Bank Midwest has established a fund to help the family of Terin Humphrey, Olympic gymnast, with their travel expenses to the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

Terin is the daughter of Steve and Lisa Humphrey and the granddaughter of Jack and Janis Humphrey of Lake Viking. Her father Steve is employed as a commercial loan officer at Bank Midwest in Cameron.

Gallatin Crossroads Basketball Team

ages 12-13

The Gallatin Crossroads Basketball Team (ages 12-13) played in the YMCA League at Cameron, recording an undefeated season until the league championship game when they lost by two points.
