Letter to Editor from Shirley Harding

Dear Editor:

All parents, please check your children’s shoes. My grandson was down to the pool on June 24 and someone stole his shoes. I really think it’s sad when a child can’t go have fun without having to worry about his or her belongings.

The Coonridge Digest: Land of the free and home of the curly fry

by Freida Marie Crump

Greetin’s from the Ridge.

Personally, I blame it all on the Founding Fathers. It seems that every national holiday has become one more excuse to overeat.

Fourth of July picnics, Memorial Day barbecues, Thanksgiving gorge fests. Give us a holiday and the average American will find a way to gnaw, chew and swallow his way into a numbing coma.

And, our country being democratic even to

Post Scripts: What kind of memorial?

by Joe Snyder

Those folks who get the news by skimming the front page, or watching television, must be feeling confused by the great change in Bush’s character. For more than two years following 9/ll he was a model of a straight shooter, morally straight and full of righteousness. Lately, however, we hear of a president who can’t tell a straight story about why he took us to war in
