Circuit Court

Sarah Dowell was granted a dissolution of marriage from Jack Dowell on March 25 by Judge Warren McElwain.

In State vs. Scott D. Virtue, heard March 26 before Judge Stephen Griffin, the defendant entered guilty pleas to one count of attempt to manufacture a controlled substance, Class B felony, and one count of resisting arrest, Class D felony. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered.

Sheriff’s Office

Lawrence Curtis of Gallatin reported March 28 that an ATV valued at $2,000 had been stolen from his driveway on March 27.

A 1987 Chevy pickup reported stolen by Earl W. Wright of Jamesport on March 24 was discovered abandoned in Independence on March 26. The truck was parked at Landes Oil when it was stolen.

Joshua Brennan, 21, Bethany, was charged March 23 with failure to appear for probation

County Commission

James Lewis, bridge supervisor, met with the commission reporting that repairs continue on a bridge in Grand River Township. The bridge will not require load posting when completed.

The commission reported having attended the Mid-America Regional Councils of Government meeting in Cameron. Regional development in rural areas and USDA funding were discussed.

City to embark on $2.9 million sewer project

Plan to upgrade Gallatin’s wastewater treatment plant and extend sewer service to outlying areas

Approximately 30 citizens met with city officials Monday evening to discuss details of a long-anticipated sewer improvement project. Construction of a $2.9 million plan to upgrade Gallatin’s wastewater treatment plant and extend sewer service to outlying areas is anticipated later this year.
