Winston FBLA at State, Uthe to nationals

Four members competed

Four members of the Winston Future Business Leaders of America recently returned from competing in several events at the 44th Annual Missouri FBLA State Leadership Conference in Columbia.

Those members attending the conference were Cassie Barker, Brett Uthe, Darcy Kumm and Jackie Lee. Brett Uthe received 4th place in the Business Math competition and due to schedule conflicts with two of the students finishing ahead of him,

New greenhouse now open

Four miles north of Hamilton on CC

Pam Sutton and Kim Gray opened Kim’s Country Greenhouse on Hwy. CC about four miles north of Hamilton on April 1.

The new business utilizes three green houses which have been set up since January. The bedding house contains vegetables and flowering plants which were started from seeds and plugs.

Toby Dougherty will begin duties as Gallatin’s city administrator

Toby Dougherty will begin duties as Gallatin’s city administrator on May 19.

Mr. Dougherty is originally from the small town of Lucas, Kan. He has been living in Lawrence, Kan, the last five years.

Officers, dogs search for escapee

Escape from Midwest Security Housing in Pattonsburg

At 3 a.m. on April 27, the Daviess County Sheriff’s office was notified that an inmate had escaped from Midwest Security Housing in Pattonsburg.

Cory Bruce Dresch, 23, was being held on two felony counts of manufacturing methamphetamine with intent to deliver, probation violations, and a felony count of tampering with anhydrous ammonia. The charges originated in Polk County, Iowa (Des Moines).
