There were 46 traffic cases heard in the Associate Division of the Circuit Court of Daviess County involving a plea of guilty without contest and payment of the standard fine plus court costs. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside outside of Missouri was $1,685 for 23 cases. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside in Missouri was $1,525 for 23 cases. All of
Jeffrey C. Mathews, 23, Pattonsburg, was charged Jan. 25 with attempting to produce methamphetamine, Class B felony. He is being held at Ray County Security Housing with bond set at $50,000.
Mathews was arrested during a traffic stop by the Sheriff’s Department on a misdemeanor warrant from the Higginsville Police Department. A search of the vehicle revealed items which are used in the production of methamphetamine.
The following cases were heard by Judge Warren McElwain on Law Day held Jan. 22:
In State of Missouri vs. Lori Paulno, held for charges of 1st degree murder, Class A felony, abandonment of a corpse, Class D felony, and stealing, Class C felony, the case was transferred to Judge Stephen K. Griffin. A change of venue is pending.

Daviess County Soil & Water Conservation District FY-2004 Cost-Share sign-up is throughout the month of February. Beginning Monday, Feb. 3, landowners wishing to receive state cost-share funds after July 1, 2003, may apply for assistance.
