Gallatin R-5 track and field athletes kicked off the 2002 season last Tuesday in Warrensburg by participating in the CMSU Indoor Mule Relays. Next up for the Bulldogs is next Tuesday’s Brant Downey Invitational at Lathrop High School.

USA wrestlers finish successful season

Area USA wrestlers recently wrapped up their season

Area USA wrestlers recently wrapped up their season in March post- season action during district, regional and state competition. The local group qualified 13 wrestlers for the district tournament, 11 for the regional round and 4 for the state event, where Billy Kerns brought home a 6th place medal.

Missouri high school all-state basketball teams released this week contain the names of several area players,

Missouri high school all-state basketball teams released this week contain the names of several area players, including three from the Grand River Conference. This year’s all-state list has been dubbed the Bob Carter Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters All-State Basketball Teams in memory of the long-time Chillicothe sports editor who died last fall.

Open House to coincide with county’s Health Fair

5th annual health fair and Grand Opening – April 1

This year the Daviess County Health Department will be holding it’s 5th annual health fair and Grand Opening in conjunction with Public Health Week. The Health Fair will start the week off on Monday, April 1, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the health department’s new location, 609A S. Main St., in Gallatin.

County Commission

Daniel Lynn, bridge supervisor, and James Lewis, foreman, met with the commission reporting that work will begin today on a culvert replacement on Titan Avenue in Sheridan Township. Daniel will notify the central dispatch office, the school district and the post office.
