Statewide Severe Weather Tornado Drill at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12

Youth Wrestling Club has outstanding season

Missouri State Wrestling Championships March 23-24

The Gallatin Youth Wrestling Club has had an outstanding season, which started in early December, and will be topped off with the Missouri State Wrestling Championships March 23-24 at the Hearnes Center in Columbia.

The club has participated in several tournaments, traveling to Chillicothe, Higginsville, Kirksville, Maysville, Trenton, Polo and Belton. Wrestlers practice every Tuesday and Thursday

at Searcy Elementary.

Four JH band members receive I rating at music festival

Junior High instrumental music solo and ensemble festival

On Feb. 16, four Gallatin R-5 junior high band students participated in the Northwest Missouri State University Junior High instrumental music solo and ensemble festival and received I (Superior) ratings. They were Trisha Sprague, trumpet solo; Kate Jarboe, trumpet solo; Karly Goll and Lacey Curtis, flute duet.

Edward Hausman

Edward L. Hausman, 79, of St. Joseph, died Tuesday, February 19, 2002, at a local hospital.

Mass of Christian burial for Edward Hausman, board member and past president of the Lake Viking Association, was held Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in St. Joseph.

Interment was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Northwest Missouri chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association

Denton Lamma

Denton L. “Denny” Lamma, 54, Natoma, Kans., died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002.

Funeral services for Denton Lamma, son of Wanda Lamma of Gallatin, were held Saturday at the Coffey Baptist Church. Burial was in Coffey Cemetery with military honors by the VFW and American Legion Posts of Bethany and Albany, under the direction of the Roberson Funeral

Claudie Delbert Conover, 56, died Dec. 17, 2001, in Hominy, Okla.

Mr. Conover was born June 29, 1945, in Gilman City to Frank and Viola (Reed) Conover.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank, on July 5, 1980. His mother, Viola, followed him in death on Jan. 13, 2002.
