Man charged in deer incident; game violation charges pending

Lester Melton, 49, of Macks Creek was arrested Oct. 30

Lester Melton, 49, of Macks Creek was arrested Oct. 30 after he was found to have appropriated two domestic whitetail deer in Grundy County. Mr. Melton is charged with two counts of stealing without consent. He is being held on $20,000 bond in Grundy County. He will go to court Nov. 13.

The owner of the deer was Joseph Schmucker

Nine members met with Francie Toney for their fall meeting on Monday, Oct. 15. Francie served a salad luncheon from her decorated Halloween table. Pattonsburg Clubs

Crossroads Club

The Crossroads Club met Oct. 3 with Mildred McDaniel. There were eight members present. Guests were Norma Crone and her granddaughter, Megan Crone. Homer and Garold McDaniel joined in for the noon meal. The day was spent making quilt blocks. Get well cards were signed to be sent. Next meeting is Nov. 7 and Betty Plymell will be hostess. We will make plans for our Christmas party.
