Matt Fry has been selected to sing with the North Carolina Symphony at the “Mozart in Requiem”

Matt Fry has been selected to sing with the North Carolina Symphony at the “Mozart in Requiem” Memorial Concert at 7 p.m. on Sept. 30 at the Duke University Chapel in Durham, N.C.

The concert is to honor the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on America. Five Duke alumni are missing

7th graders qualify for Talent Search

Sixteen seventh graders from R-5 tapped for Duke University’s Talent Identification Program

Sixteen seventh graders from Gallatin R-5 School have been tapped for Duke University’s Talent Identification Program. The student’s qualified for the TIP program based upon test scores in the top five percent on verbal or math subtests or the Stanford Achievement Test.

Benches complete outdoor project

Stream Team builds 12 four foot wooden benches

Last spring Mr. Steigerwalt received a grant from Wal-Mart through the stream team organization. The Boy Scouts supplied the labor last year to help build the floating dock on the school pond.

This spring Mr. Steigerwalt’s Stream Team #697 finished the outdoor project by building 12 four foot wooden benches. The benches were mounted on four foot sections of old telephone poles

David Neth new R-6 board member

David Neth was sworn in as a member of the Winston R-6 Board of Education

David Neth was sworn in as a member of the Winston R-6 Board of Education during their regular meeting held Sept. 20. Mr. Neth takes the place of Wayne Uthe who resigned in May.

One of the current bus routes was reviewed. The issue was tabled until the next board meeting.
