New fire district approved; Whorton wins House seat

Democrat Jim Whorton will represent the 3rd District as state representative for the next two years following a narrow 287-vote victory over Republican Roscoe Moulthrop during yesterday’s special election.

Daviess County endorsed Whorton by a 45-vote margin. Whorton’s election victory was won in his home county of Grundy where he defeated Moulthrop by 902 votes. Whorton tallied 52.1% of all votes cast. Moulthrop won in Mercer and Sullivan counties and
