911 pagers sold to county departments

911 Board agreed to sell pagers to Jamesport 5; Lock Springs 2; and Coffey 2.

During their regular meeting held June 28, the 911 Board agreed to sell pagers to the following emergency departments: Jamesport 5; Lock Springs 2; and Coffey 2.

The treasure’s report was given with a balance of $37,143.00 as of June 28, 2001 and bills of $6,912.47 were presented.

The Winston R-6 School Board set the tax rate hearing for August 16

The Winston R-6 School Board set the tax rate hearing for the 2001-2002 school year for August 16 during its regular meeting in July.

The board reviewed the non-resident student policy and made a decision to leave the policy as is for the upcoming school year.

Bids were taken on propane and diesel fuel, gasoline and milk

The High Class Band from Fairfield, Iowa, is the featured entertainment during Coffey Pioneer Days

The High Class Band from Fairfield, Iowa, is the featured musical entertainment during Coffey Pioneer Days scheduled for 8 p.m. on Aug. 4. The annual event is sponsored by the Coffey Community Betterment Club and the City of Coffey.

Hey, that’s Anna!

Anna Barton, a senior at Gallatin R-5 High School this fall was the vocalist singing the national anthem prior to Saturday night’s baseball game between the KC Royals and the Oakland Athletics at Kaufman Stadium. Anna’s performance was ‘a cappella’. She is the daughter of Jack and Lois Barton.

Farmers’ Electric Cooperative has announced plans to publish a cookbook to benefit the Area Youth Benefit Fund.

Farmers’ Electric Cooperative has announced plans to publish a cookbook this fall with all proceeds to benefit the Area Youth Benefit Fund.

Anyone may submit recipes in any of nine categories: meats and main dishes, casseroles, vegetables, breads, pies and cakes, cookies and candy, salads, desserts and appetizers. Full credit will be given
