Family Daze: A Mother’s “New” Year Resolutions

I always start the new year by writing a list of ambitious resolutions that are harder to achieve than fitting into my pre-pregnancy jeans. Although I always start out with the best of intentions, this year I figured I might be more successful if I lowered my standards and modified my resolutions to more reasonable goals.

Last year’s resolution: The television will remain off during school days.

I recently walked through the kitchen of a school cafeteria and saw a pamphlet that seemed slightly smaller than the large print edition of War and Peace. It was an instructional manual on how to cook food and keep it safe. Too bad they wasted all that paper. What they really needed was Grandma Gebhardt’s nose.

Randall Relford chosen to seek Senate position

Representative Relford will run for Senate seat in the 12th district

Rep. Randall Relford, D-Cameron, will run for the vacant Missouri Senate seat in the 12th district.

The 12th District Democratic Campaign Committee selected Relford on Saturday, Dec. 2 as the Democratic candidate. He officially filed on Dec. 4 for the office that will be filled after the special election. The election will be held on Jan. 24.

New area code for the 816 area in western Missouri announced

The overlay area code number will by 975.

The North American Numbering Plan Administration (NANPA) has announced the new area code number for the planned overlay of the 816 area code in western Missouri. The overlay area code number will by 975.

The new area code will be assigned to new telephone numbers issued in the current 816 area code. Current telephone numbers will not be affected by the overlay
