Following are approved minutes of Aug. 21. All members were present.

Daniel Lynn, bridge supervisor, and James Lewis, foreman, met with the commission reporting routine matters.

The commission discussed Associate Circuit Judge Daren Adkins’ request to purchase new court recording equipment as budgeted. Danny Heldenbrand moved that Judge Adkins should obtain bids from vendors and order the necessary equipment staying within the guidelines of chapter 50.660

Theft reported at museum in Jamesport

John McClure, Trenton, reported the theft of a radiator cap off a 1931 Packard located in his museum in Jamesport on Aug. 19. The radiator cap is valued between $300 and $500.

A 39-year-old Altamont woman was arrested Aug. 23 and charged with misdemeanor passing bad checks. She posted $100 cash bond.

A Jamesport woman reported harassment by a person known to her on Aug. 22.

Non-renewals of Medicare+Choice will hit rural elderly the hardest

Non-renewals will affect 934,000 Medicare beneficiaries, according to figures released by the federal Health Care Financing Administration.

Elderly rural residents will be hardest hit when managed health care plans do not renew their Medicare+Choice contracts as recently announced, say analysts from the Rural Policy Research Institute (RUPRI) at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
