Hobart and Iva Harrah married 70 years

Hobart and Iva Harrah will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Aug. 2. They were married in Chillicothe in 1929. Hobart celebrated his 90th birthday on May 7, and Iva will be 88 on July 2. They reside at Sunset Nursing Home in Maysville.

Hobart is a retired heavy equipment operator and Iva was a homemaker. The couple has two children, Gordon of Lake Viking and Nadine Hillyard of Union

Meeting set on PSF permits

A public meeting will be held in Trenton this month for hearing comments on water pollution control permits for some Premium Standard Farm and Continental Grain sites in Northwest Missouri.

MU farm to be upgraded

The Missouri General Assembly has approved funds for upgrading cattle handling facilities at the MU farm at Spickard.

Tray Whitt will attend Missouri Valley College this fall.

Tray Whitt, a 1999 graduate of Gallatin R-5 High School, plans to attend Missouri Valley College in Marshall and major in education.

At Missouri Valley, Tray expects to play on the Viking basketball team coached by Tom Fifer, and in Viking baseball, coached by Tim Linhart.

Spidle resting after surgery

Gwen Spidle, Gallatin,5-time All-American gymnast at the University of Alabama, is recuperating this week from surgery last week to install a pacemaker.

Gwen Spidle, daughter of Kim and Ron Spidle of Gallatin, is recuperating this week from surgery last week to install a pacemaker. A 5-time All-American gymnast at the University of Alabamba, Gwen was recently diagnosed with a cardiovascular defect after her heart stopped beating on two separate occasions.
