Hackers hit Internet

Users of PonyExpress.net were without service Monday due to hackers who corrupted one of the servers.

Because of security issues, service to PonyExpress.net subscribers was interrupted Monday afternoon as server systems were restorted following a corruption of one service. A group calling tehemselves the Keebler Elves” also corrupted a number of other servers, including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Storm Prediction Center, the U.S. Army and others.

Wray wins twice

Dean Wray had a chance to double his pleasure here Saturday night at Missouri’s I-35 Speedway. The two-time track points champion zipped to a pair of feature triumphs in the IMCA modified ranks while improving his season record in main events to seven of eight on the three- eighths-mile dirt oval.

On UMKC dean’s list

Sarah Micheal has been named to the UMKC Dean’s List for the past semester.

Sarah Michael of Kansas City, daughter of David and Kayla Michael of Gallatin, has been named to the Dean’s List at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Dean’s List honorees rank in the top ten percent of their academic level for their specific academic unit. Sarah is a senior at UMKC seeking elementary education certification.

Highway contracts awarded

Contracts for several area highway projects have been awarded by the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission.

The Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission has awarded contracts for work on Route 13 in Daviess County and Route A in Caldwell County. The contract was awarded in the amounts of $276,489.40 with $172,444.80 awarded to R.A. Knapp Construction Inc. of Lenexa, Kan.

Heath Cake Dessert

1 box chocolate cake mix

1 can Eagle Brand milk

4 crushed Heath candy bars

1 cup milk chocolate chips

1 cup chopped nuts

1 carton Cool Whip

Bake chocolate cake in 13×9 pan, following box directions. Remove from oven, cool 10 minutes. Pierce cake several times with big prong fork or ice pick. Pour Eagle Brand milk over cake. Sprinkle two crushed Heath bars over top
